  • Design Your Own Food Forest Workshop

    4th May 2024 9.00 am 1.00 pm

    Learn how to design and create your own edible garden in a suburban sized backyard, following permaculture principles. We’ll cover how to start with soil preparation, composting, mulching, plant selection, guilds, propagation and maintenance. This workshop is run in conjunction with Selwyn Community Education.   • St Johns Food Forest Show and Tell

    11th May 2024 10:00am - 12.30pm

    Are you interested to see a lovely mature Food Forest that has been created in a backyard setting in suburban St Johns? Come and be inspired by how much food production there is in this 10 year old forest garden. Anyone can turn their ordinary backyard into an oasis of fruit trees, herbs, vegetables, berries and edible perennials. Spend a relaxing Saturday morning strolling through the woodland paths, foraging for herbs, and looking at the chickens and perusing the garden art for sale. Simply email:

    This mini workshop will cover soil building, compost, keeping chickens, herbal tea tasting, foraging and an intro to permaculture.
