St Johns Food Forest garden art by Ellen Eskildsen
These rustic bird houses are hand-made from recycled materials. We use wood from untreated pallets that have been discarded. Some of the bird boxes have roofs made from tin cans that have been bent into shapes and sometimes given a “rust/aged” treatment . The acrylic paint used to decorate the bird boxes has been left-over from previous projects. The rusty washers and other objets d’art have been lovingly collected from garages, friends’ dads’ workshops, bric-a-brac stores and other treasure troves. Even the nails have been salvaged from the aforementioned wooden pallets.
